Pickleball Comes to La Manga Club in Spain

We are delighted to announce Pickleball has arrived at The Racquets Club, La Manga Club Resort!

What is Pickleball and where did the name come from?

Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. It's played on a smaller court than tennis, with a net, using paddles and a perforated plastic ball. The sport is called "pickleball" due to a few possible origins, one of which is that it was named after the co-inventor's family dog, Pickles! Alternatively, it could be named after a "pickle boat" in rowing, which is a crew of leftover rowers.

Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned professional, The Racquets Club has the facilities and coaches to ensure you learn and perfect your skills whilst having fun playing this new wave in racquet sports.

For beginners, start with an Introduction to Pickleball. Getting a feel for the ball on the paddle is the first step, but you’ll also need to know the rules, how to score and serve. Enjoy 90 minutes of fun-filled group tuition to get you started. Racquets and balls included.

Monday sessions are specifically designed to give youngsters an introduction to pickleball. This sport is so much fun, they’ll be hooked before you know it! Racquets and balls included. Monday 5pm-6:30pm during specific high season dates.
